((I get that some people don’t like the look of the Twitter app and that is valid, but there are still better free options than this.)) I have been harsh on this app, more so than I normally would be, but I have been harsh because Iconfactory should be cranking out better apps than this.
#TWITTERRIFIC MAC FOR MAC#
The biggest problem with Twitterrific 4 is that there is no compelling reason to use it over Twitter for Mac when you factor in the $9.99 price tag for the non-ad, mutli-user version. Making sure CMD+W closes picture previews and that dragging in pictures to a compose window attaches the image, is basic stuff for a 4th version product. Most of the problems can be easily fixed with updates, but for a version 4 product these issues should have never shipped. I can’t help but feel a lot was left out to get the app out.

You can’t close image windows (Twitpic and the like) with the keyboard. There is a badge on the dock icon with a new tweet count, I never have been a fan of badge counts (exception on Mail.app).If you want two accounts you need to pay $9.99 - which is silly given that Twitter for Mac is free.

Then when Twitterrific does update, the new tweets jump into position where they should be in the timeline. After you post a tweet your Twitter stream is not updated, so you see your new tweet at the top of the old tweets.I know a lot of people have been waiting for this app, but frankly it is just not a great app. Most of the values below this point are RGB color values, from 0 (0 percent) to 255 (100 percent). As most Mac Twitter users are aware, Twitterrific 4 was released. These are the color settings for a selected tweet in your timeline. The first set of stats, for example, is the key selected inside the key normalTweet.

Open theme_ist and you’ll see a series of labels (set in key tags) that tell you what those settings are for. These files are all XML files, but they’re fairly readable. In there are the key files you need to edit, using TextEdit or any other text editor around: theme_ist and theme_ist are the files that define the two color schemes theme_ist, theme_desktop_ist, and theme_desktop_ist are the files that determine font sizes at the Smaller, Normal, and Larger settings. Inside the package.Inside the Twitterrific app package, there’s a Contents folder, and inside there is a Resources folder. But if you’re curious about taking Twitterrific and modifying it, here’s how. Don’t do it if you’re not comfortable with cracking open a package and editing XML files. Let me be clear: What follows is crazy stuff.
#TWITTERRIFIC MAC CRACKED#
I cracked open the Twitterrific’s application package itself (by control-clicking the app in the Finder and choosing Show Package Contents) and began editing the text files inside that determine how Twitterrific looks.

But irregular users like me can do crazy things, things that the developers of Twitterrific would never approve of.
